You're just a little flame with one simple objective - BURN THINGS! Go from flammable boxes to candles and even hop out on your own for a little while, just make sure to not get put out, and watch out for those pesky sprinklers!

This is my submission for the May 2019 #SosJam game jam that went on from the 20th of may to the 1st of June. The theme was a song title, I picked the song ‘Burning Down The House’ by Talking Heads.

A point and click/ platformer where you, as a little ball of flame must go through rooms burning things to make you way to the end.

Controls:

'Left Click' on burnable objects to latch onto them.

'Right click' to emit a force push around yourself ( you will lose health when you do this ).

Press 'Space' to detach and move freely.

'Arrow keys/WASD' to move, space to jump.

The 'R' button with reset you to the last checkpoint.

Recharge your health by avoiding water and attaching yourself to burnable objects.

The time spent was around 38 Hours over 8 days. Don’t forget to check out the other entries for the SosJam and give them a rating (...and mine to if you liked it)!

I’ve always wanted to burn down a house....this game was super fun!  Had a little trouble at the start but that’s cause I’m an idiot 🤣 The gameplay is a neat twist which I thoroughly enjoyed, great work! 😁

Burning Down The House lives up to its name and is indeed fun. It was occasionally difficult to coordinate myself, but the mechanics were otherwise fine. Plus, who doesn't enjoy setting everything on fire?

Good job, devs.

Very interesting concept! Very nice graphics and I like how you've created a bigger flame that makes you stronger, gives the game game an extra touch. Simple idea, but there is so much that you can create from this, many different levels etc.

I don't know if you've heard of Game Development World Championship before (gdwc2019) but it's a competition for indie game developers where they can submit their games and it's free! It's great if you want some more visibility for the game and it only takes a couple of minutes to join :)

This is definitely one of my favourites from this jam, loved jumping from item to item - it added a really nice tension when you weren't sure if you were going to make it or not. Lots of different puzzle ish mechanics too, enough where I could see this concept fairly easily being expanded into a longer title, great job!

It's tricky, because you have to aim very precisely, and I was expecting a lot more flame, but it's not bad. I'm stuck on the the kitchen of the first level, because I can't find how to connect to the gas leak, and the wine rains down very quickly.

Not bad, not great, but I do love the idea, I've been looking for something like this for a while.

Cool project, I burned ALL the things. :)
